The Southern History Society, based at the University of Winchester, is a registered charity which primarily publishes the peer-reviewed academic journal Southern History.
The journal covers the historic counties of Berkshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Kent, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire, together with those parts of Essex, Oxfordshire, London, the Channel Islands and the Scilly Isles which can be shown to have formed part of the region in the past.
The Society also arranges occasional thematic conferences.
